OWEN – Spencer used a five-run fifth inning to get past Owen-Withee 6-2 in the season opener for both baseball teams on Tuesday.
Owen-Withee led 2-1 after four innings before the Rockets erupted with the big fifth inning to pull ahead.
Hunter Luepke earned the win, striking out nine in 5 2/3 innings. Tanner Kleinschmidt and Colten Schillinger finished off the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Luepke went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Caden Schillinger added a pair of hits and an RBI, and Colten Schillinger also knocked in a run for Spencer.
Spencer is scheduled to play at Marshfield Columbus Catholic on Thursday.
