MAUSTON – The Marshfield softball team split a pair of Wisconsin Valley Conference games on Tuesday, losing 8-7 to Stevens Point in nine innings and beating Wausau West 7-3, at Woodside Sports Complex.

Both games were moved to Woodside due to wet fields in Central Wisconsin.

The Tigers are now 5-2 overall and 3-1 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Against Stevens Point, Marshfield led 6-2 after four innings before the Panthers (3-0, 2-0 WVC) rallied. Point scored twice in the fifth, once in the sixth, and twice in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game at 7-7 and force extra innings. After a scoreless eighth, Point scored in the bottom of the ninth to pull out the win.

Megan Donahue suffered the loss, striking out eight and walking five in a complete-game effort. At the plate, Donahue smacked two home runs and drove in four to pace the Tigers’ offense.

Jordan Pretsch added a double, a home run, and three RBIs, Emily Draeger had four hits, and Jenna Jakobi, Morgan Nordbeck and Rhiannon Corozolla each had two hits for Marshfield.

In the win over West, Donahue had three doubles and drove in a pair of runs. Taylor Barwick and Kate Konrardy each added a pair of RBIs for the Tigers.

Konrardy picked up the win on the mound, allowing two runs, one earned, in 4 1/3 innings. She struck out three and didn’t walk a batter.

Marshfield is scheduled to play a nonconference doubleheader at Holmen on Friday.
