WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Wisconsin Valley Conference boys golf tournament got underway Friday with the first leg of the seven-meet tournament at the Ridges Golf Course.
Wausau West won the team title with a 327, 15 shots ahead of D.C. Everest. Marshfield finished fifth with a 359, two shots behind fourth-place Wisconsin Rapids.
Marshfield had a pair of top-10 individual finishes. Nate Boson took fifth with an 81 and Ben Baur shot an 86 to take 10th.
Josh Gruen shot a 93, Jeffery Berres had a 99, and Jaxon Bulgrin had a 104 to round out Marshfield’s scoring.
Marshfield will compete at the Sparta Invitational on Saturday. The second WVC meet will be Tuesday at Pine Valley Golf Course in Marathon, hosted by Wausau West.
