ASHWAUBENON – The Marshfield girls soccer team fought back from an early deficit to force a 2-2 tie in a nonconference game at Ashwaubenon on Friday night.
Chrissy Timmins scored in the opening minute off a corner kick and Haley Ehmke added another goal in the 26th minute to give the Jaguars an early 2-0 lead.
Nina Hashimoto scored off an assist from Courtney Meyer at the 36:23 mark, and Hashimoto added another goal on an assist from Amara Arndt at 62:19 to force the tie for Marshfield.
Mikayla Brueggen had 10 saves for the Tigers (1-4-1).
“I am very proud of the team and the fight they had in them coming back from two down,” Marshfield coach Steve Lindner said. “It would have been easy to say it is not our night and pack it in, but we worked all the harder and clawed back to even. From there we had multiple opportunities ,including hitting the post and 1-on-1 with the goalie with a shot going high over the crossbar. I loved the battle the team put forth and tenacity they all showed.”
Marshfield hosts Wausau West on Tuesday in its home opener. The game starts at 5 p.m. at Griese Park.
