Stratford softball splits two at Portage tournament

PORTAGE – The Stratford softball team split a pair of games at the Portage Tournament on Saturday.

Stratford lost to the host Portage 5-3 in the opener and came back with an 8-0 shutout of La Crosse Logan. Stratford is now 4-3 this season.

Portage scored four times in the top of the first inning and that proved to be enough.

Stratford cut it to 5-3, scoring single runs in the first, fifth and sixth innings, but couldn’t get any closer.

Kiana Weiler had three hits for Stratford.

Weiler tossed a complete-game shutout in the second game, striking out two and walking two. Anna Goldbach had two hits and drove in four runs for Stratford.

Stratford is scheduled to host Marathon on Tuesday.
