AUBURNDALE – Marathon took advantage of 10 Auburndale walks and a number of errors to scored 16 runs in the fourth and fifth inning and defeated the Apaches 17-2 in a Marawood Conference South Division softball game Monday at Auburndale High School.
Marathon broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the third inning, then blew the game open with seven runs in the fourth and nine more in the fifth to end the game via the 10-run rule.
Only five of the 17 runs Marathon scored were earned.
Mackenzie Raab had two of Auburndale’s five hits, and Teryn Lau and Abby Koopman each had RBIs in the loss.
Auburndale (1-4, 0-4 Marawood South) plays at Edgar on Tuesday.
