NEILLSVILLE – The Spencer softball team split a doubleheader at Neillsville on Tuesday to move to 3-1 in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division.

Neillsville won the opener 7-2 before Spencer came back to win Game 2 5-4. The second game was called with Neillsville batting in the sixth due to lightning.

Bianca Fischer earned the win in the first game for the Warriors (3-2, 2-2 Cloverbelt East), scattering five hits and striking out four.

Lexi Baehr hit a home run and drove in two runs for Spencer.

Tiffany Meinders struck out 12 and walked only one in the opener, taking the loss for the Rockets.

“Despite excellent pitching from Tiffany Meinders, with 12 strikeouts, we could not come up with plays behind her and Neillsville really has some great bats,” Spencer coach Laschel Canfield said.

In Game 2, Meinders struck out four and had two doubles and an RBI for Spencer.

Spencer hosts Greenwood on Friday.
