Marshfield takes fifth at second leg of WVC boys golf tournament

MARATHON – The Marshfield boys golf team finished fifth at the second leg of the 2018 Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Golf Tournament, which was held Tuesday at Pine Valley Golf Course in Marathon. Wausau West was the host school.

Stevens Point (324) edged Wausau West (329) for the team title, with Marshfield taking fith with a score of 354.

The Tigers are now in a three-way tie for fourth place in the overall standings with Wisconsin Rapids and Merrill.

Ben Baur led the Tigers with an 84 and finished ninth overall. Russell Dettmering of Merrill was the meet medalist with a 74.

Nate Boson had an 86, Josh Gruen shot an 89, Cole Hanson had a 95, and Jeffery Berres shot a 100 for Marshfield.

The third leg of the seven-meet tournament is Friday at Merrill.
