MARATHON – Marathon took advantage of some errors by Stratford and got excellent pitching to run its record to 8-0 this season with a 8-0 shutout of the Tigers on Thursday in a Marawood Conference South Division baseball game at Marathon High School.
Marathon scored all eight of its runs in the first four innings, only two of which were earned, against Stratford starter Eli Drexler. The Tigers committed four errors in the loss, falling to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
Drexler and Matt Handrick each had two hits for Stratford, which was limited to six hits by Riley Anderson (six innings) and Myles Williamson, who threw a scoreless seventh to finish off the shutout.
Stratford hosts Abbotsford in a nonconfence game Friday at 4:45 p.m.
