STRATFORD – The Stratford baseball team made quick work of Abbotsford, using an 11-run second inning to down the Falcons 20-0 in a nonconference game Friday at the Tiger Stadium baseball field.
Stratford scored six times in the first and put the game away early with an 11-run second. The game ended after 4½ innings via the 10-run rule.
Lance Heidmann (3 1/3 innings) and Chandler Schmidt (1 2/3 innings) combined on the one-hit shutout, striking out seven without a walk.
Devyn Palmer went 3-for-3 with three runs scored and three RBIs, and Mark Handrick was 3-for-4 with four RBIs for the Tigers (3-3).
Stratford returns to action Tuesday with a Marawood Conference South Division game at Auburndale.
