MARSHFIELD – Jarred Mandel and Evan Dieringer combined on a five-inning, three-hit shutout as the Marshfield Columbus Catholic baseball team plowed past Granton 19-0 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup Friday at Jack Hackman Field.
The Dons scored eight times in the fourth inning and added six more in the fifth to finish end the game by the 10-run rule.
Mandel had seven strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings and Dieringer got the final two outs to preserve the shutout for Columbus (1-3, 1-2 Cloverbelt East).
Columbus pounded out 18 hits in the victory, including a perfect 4-for-4 night from Nick Malovrh, who also scored four times and drove in three.
Bryce Fuerlinger added three hits, including two doubles, and scored three times, and Ethan Meece had two doubles and two RBIs.
Columbus plays a nonconference doubleheader at Stevens Point Pacelli on Saturday.
