MERRILL – Marshfield had a season-best third-place finish at the third leg of the seven-meet Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Golf Tournament, which was held Friday at Merrill Golf Course.
The Tigers shot a combined score of 341, 10 shots behind second-place Wausau West. Stevens Point won the meet with a 327.
With the third-place finish, Marshfield moves into sole possession of fourth place in the WVC standings.
Marshfield’s Ben Baur shot a 76 to tie for second place overall and Stevens Point’s Evan Thomas, three shots behind meet medalist Russell Dettmering of Merrill. Baur is sixth in the overall individual standings.
Nate Boson tied for eighth with an 84, Josh Gruen shot an 89, Cole Hanson fired a 92, and Jeffery Berres had a 100 for the Tigers.
The fourth leg of the tournament is Tuesday at RiverEdge Golf Course in Marshfield.
