SPENCER – Tiffany Meinders struck out nine in a complete-game effort as the Spencer softball team knocked off Greenwood 7-3 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday at Spencer High School.
Leadoff hitter Sadie Mercier went 3-for-4 and scored twice, and Chailey Robinson was 3-for-3 with an RBI to pace the Rockets’ offense.
Lexi Baehr added two hits and two RBIs and Spencer stole five bases in the victory.
The Rockets are now 5-2 overall and 4-1 in the Cloverbelt East.
“The team really came in with a great mindset tonight,” Spencer coach Laschel Canfield said. “They got the job done at the plate. Sadie Mercier’s leadership at the plate and on the field was just fantastic, and it was great to see Chailey Robinson’s bat come alive also.”
Spencer hosts Owen-Withee for a conference doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
