Stratford softball sweeps doubleheader vs. Edgar

STRATFORD – Kiana Weiler allowed just one run and five hits in two five-inning complete games to help the Stratford softball team to a doubleheader sweep of Edgar on Monday at Hilgemann Field.

Stratford won 13-0 and 11-1, both ending in five innings via the 10-run rule, to improve to 6-5 overall and 4-2 in the Marawood Conference South Division this spring.

Weiler struck out eight and allowed just two hits in the shutout in Game 1, and struck out six in Game 2 to earn both victories. She also had two RBIs in the second game.

Paige Kolbeck had four RBIs, and Mariah Zawislan and Cassidy VanDerLeest both had two hits in the opener.

Stratford used a nine-run fifth inning to put away Game 2. Courtney Kaiser had three hits for the Tigers.

Stratford plays at Auburndale on Tuesday.
