Marshfield softball player Megan Donahue has been voted as the WDLB-WOSQ Radio & MarshfieldAreaSports.com April High School Athlete of the Month.
The High School Athlete of the Month Award is sponsored by Cost Cutters Family Hair Care and Burt Trophy & Awards.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Athens, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Marathon, Marshfield, Neillsville, Owen-Withee, Pittsville, Spencer, Stratford and Thorp.
Donahue received 549 of the 1,707 votes cast, winning by just 33 votes.
Other nominees for the April award were Athens baseball player Seth Coker, Loyal track athlete Savannah Schley, and Spencer track athlete Hannah Zastrow.
Donahue, a senior, has been on a torrid streak at the plate as Marshfield has jumped out to a 9-2 start this season. Donahue had a home run and four RBIs against Kenosha Tremper and earned a win pitching against Chippewa Falls at the Stevens Point Tournament on April 28. She went a combined 4-for-7 with four RBIs in a doubleheader sweep of Holmen on April 27, and earned two wins and had three RBIs in a pair of victories over Merrill on April 12. In a Wisconsin Valley Conference doubleheader at Mauston on April 24, Donahue had three doubles and two RBIs in a victory over Wausau West, and hit two homers and drove in four against Stevens Point.
The winner of the WDLB-WOSQ Radio & MarshfieldAreaSports.com High School Athlete of the Year will be announced Monday, July 10.

Donahue, who also won the award in May 2016, joins Columbus Catholic boys soccer player Nadim Torbey (September), Marshfield cross country runner Joseph McKee (October), Marshfield boys basketball player Seth Anderson (November), Auburndale boys basketball player Cale Jacoby (December), Marshfield boys hockey player Ryan Krueger (January), Owen-Withee girls basketball player Jennifer Wendler, and Marathon boys basketball player Nathan Stoffel (March) as winners of the award during the 2017-18 school year.
