Barth, Zastrow each win three events at home Spencer Track Quad

SPENCER – The Spencer boys won the team title and the girls finished second at its home quadrangular track and field meet on Tuesday at Spencer High School.

The Spencer boys racked up 189.5 points to beat second-place Colby by 33. Columbus Catholic was third with 68 points.

Colby won the girls title with 227 points, with Spencer a distant second with 134 points. Columbus Catholic was fourth. Owen-Withee also competed at the event.

The Spencer boys had first-place finishes, three coming from Mason Barth.

Barth won the 110-meter hurdles in 18.02 seconds, the 300 hurdles in 45.66 seconds, and the triple jump with a leap of 37 feet for the Rockets.

Logan Zschernitz won the shot put (52-9) and discus (157-5), Connor Clark took first in the pole vault (9-0), Aaron Panrkatz won both the 200 meters (23.51) and the 400 (50.80), and Collin Nieman was first in the 800 (2:15.41) for the Rockets.

The Columbus Catholic boys had second-place finishes from Orion Smith in the 300 hurdles (51.32) and the triple jump (36-2.5).

Hannah Zastrow won three events for the Spencer girls, taking first int eh 200 (28.15), 100 hurdles (17.27), and the 300 hurdles (50.03).

Kaily Northup was first in the long jump (16-5.5), Dalaney Eichman won the pole vault (7-6), Sabrina Vircks took first in the high jump (5-0), and the 400 relay team of Northup, Zalexis Mannigel, Sydney Johnson and Eichman won in 55.28 seconds for Spencer.

Columbus Catholic’s 800 relay team of Olivia Mahoney, Emilia Vlokova, Marie Dvorakova, and Sophia Hackel earn the Dons’ lone victory, winning the race in 2:04.43.

Jessica Jakopin was second in the shot put (35-5.5) and the discus (95-9) for the Dons.

Spencer will compete at meets at Abbotsford on Thursday and Cadott on Friday in preparation for the Cloverbelt Conference Meet next Tuesday at Colby.
