Marshfield softball sweeps doubleheader at D.C. Everest

WESTON – Megan Donahue had five hits, including two doubles and a home run, and struck out 16 in nine combined innings to help the Marshfield softball team to a doubleheader sweep of D.C. Everest on Thursday at D.C. Everest High School.

The Tigers won 5-1 and 7-1 to improve to 15-3 overall and 7-2 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

In Game 1, Donahue had a single and a homer, and drove in three runs, while tossing a four-hit complete game on the mound, striking out 11.

Rhiannon Corozolla, Jordan Pretsch, and Morgan Nordbeck each added two hits in the victory.

Kate Konrardy earned the win in Game 2 for Marshfield, striking out five in five innings. Donahue finished off the four-hitter with two shutout innings and five more strikeouts.

Donahue had two doubles, a single, and scored twice, Jenna Jakobi went 4-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored, and Corozolla had three hits and two RBIs for the Tigers. Emily Dreager also had a pair of hits and scored twice in the victory.

Marshfield will compete at the Escanaba (Mich.) Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
