Stratford baseball sweeps doubleheader at Edgar

EDGAR – The Stratford baseball team swept a Marawood Conference South Division doubleheader from Edgar on Saturday, pounding the Wildcats 7-2 and 12-0.

Eli Drexler earned the win in Game 1, striking out 12 over six shutout innings. He also had a double and scored twice in the victory.

Matt Handrick and Mark Handrick each added a pair of hits for the Tigers.

In Game 2, Ty Pankratz threw a five-inning, one-hit shutout as Stratford won by the 10-run rule. He struck out three and walked three on the mound, and added two RBIs at the plate..

Matt Handrick had a double and scored twice, Dawson Moen went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, and Devyn Palmer had a single, a double and four RBIs for Stratford (7-5, 5-3 Marawood South).

Stratford will wrap up its Marawood South schedule against Wisconsin Rapids Assumption next week, playing at home Tuesday and at Assumption on Thursday.
