Stratford baseball blanks Assumption

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – Eli Drexler and Ty Pankratz combined on a one-hit shutout as the Stratford baseball team beat Wisconsin Rapids Assumption 8-0 on Thursday at Witter Field.

Drexler struck out six and allowed one hit in five innings to earn the win, and Pankratz struck out two in the final two innings to preserve the shutout for the Tigers (9-5, 7-3 Marawood Conference South Division).

Drexler also had a triple, drove in two runs, and scored three times for Stratford. Matt Handrick added a double and two RBIs as well in the victory.

Stratford hosts Chequamegon for a nonconference game Friday at 4:45 p.m.
