MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield softball team scored 13 runs in the bottom of the first inning and rolled to a 16-1 victory over Medford in a nonconference game the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
Marshfield finishes the regular season with a 21-4 record after the victory, its sixth in a row. The Tigers open WIAA postseason play with a regional final May 25 at home against either Wausau West or Eau Claire North.
Jenna Jakobi went 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, and three RBIs, and Rhiannon Corozolla and Kate Konrardy both hit home runs for the Tigers.
Emily Draeger added a pair of hits and three RBIs, and Megan Donahue knocked in two runs for Marshfield.
Taylor Barwick earned the victory, allowing one run in three innings. The game ended after four innings due to the 15-run rule.
