SPENCER – The Spencer softball team held off a late rally to knock off Gilman 4-3 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division game Friday at Spencer High School.

Spencer scored three times in the third and led 4-1 before Gilman scored twice in the top of the seventh before Rockets’ pitcher Tiffany Meinders got out of the jam.

“Such a great win for us,” Spencer coach Laschel Canfield said. “We came up with key hits when we needed them. Gilman has a great team and we played hard and worked together to come up with a win today.”

Meinders struck out eight and walked two in the complete game victory. She also added a double and an RBI.

Aryiah Schuh and Lexi Baehr each added a single and an RBI for Spencer.

Spencer (13-5, 12-1 Cloverbelt East), which already wrapped up the Cloverbelt East championship, will finish its regular-season schedule Monday at Marshfield Columbus Catholic.
