Columbus Catholic baseball drops regular-season finale at Neillsville

NEILLSVILLE – Neillsville had a pair of three-run innings and outlasted Marshfield Columbus Catholic 8-2 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division baseball game Friday at Neillsville High School.

The Dons led 2-1 after 2½ innings before Neillsville scored three times in third, added another in the fourth, and had another three-run inning in the sixth to pull away.

Evan Dieringer took the loss for Columbus, allowing eight runs in five innings.

Marshall Opelt and Logan Matson each had three hits and scored twice for Neillsville.

Columbus Catholic ends its regular-season schedule with a 2-9 record and a 2-6 mark in the Cloverbelt East.
