Auburndale softball cruises past Prentice

AUBURNDALE – The Auburndale softball team wrapped up its regular-season schedule with an 11-1 rout of Prentice in a nonconference game Friday at Auburndale High School.

Auburndale scored three runs in the second inning, added three more in the third, and finished off the game with a five-run fifth, ending the game via the 10-run rule.

Aubrndale had eight hits, two each from Abby Koopman and Alexis Soppe. Soppe also had three RBIs and was the winning pitching, striking out one and allowing just two hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Auburndale (6-9) will host Edgar in a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal on Tuesday. The winner plays at Marathon on Wednesday.
