Stratford moves 11 into sectionals after competing at WIAA Division 2 Mosinee track regional

MOSINEE – The Stratford will send six individuals in nine events and two relay teams to the sectional meet after competing at the WIAA Division 2 Track & Field Regionals on Monday at Mosinee High School.

The top four finishers in each event qualify for the Division 2 sectional on Thursday at Colby. The top four at the sectional will move on to the 2018 WIAA State Track & Field Championships on June 1-2 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Stratford had three qualify for the sectional in two individual events.

Macie Schillinger took second in the girls 400 meters (1:02.38) and was third in the 200 (28.18); Hunter Hannan earned Stratford’s lone regional title, winning the boys discus with a throw of 128 feet, and was fourth in the 100 (11.99 seconds); and Damon Weix took third in the 300 hurdles (44.34) and was fourth in the 110 hurdles (17.37) for the Tigers.

Schillinger teamed with Alexis Lappe, Abbygail Oertel and Callie Lehman to finish fourth in the girls 1,600 relay (4:18.57), and Hannan joined up with A.J. Schoenfuss, Chase Flink and Luke Gaulke to take third in the boys 800 relay (1:37.27).

Parker Hoffman took second in the boys triple jump (40-10), Saige Tichy was third in the girls pole vault (9-3), and Emily Hughes finished fourth in the girls shot put (31-11) to also move on to sectionals for Stratford.
