MENOMONIE – Cole Mensing delivered a two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift Menomonie to a 4-3 walk-off win over Marshfield in a nonconference baseball game Monday.

Marshfield led 3-1 after three innings and clung to a 3-2 lead entering the seventh before the Mustangs (7-12) were able to pull out the victory against Tigers reliever Logan Schreiner.

Marshfield starter Austin Palacek allowed two runs and struck out two in five innings.

Mason Coffren had a triple, an RBI and scored a run, and Brandon Montalvo also drove in a run for the Tigers (4-13).

“We did a great job working counts and selecting good pitches,” Marshfield coach Jon Bauer said. “Not a lot of time to dwell on this, got Wausau west tomorrow.”

Marshfield wraps up its regular-season and Wisconsin Valley Conference schedule this week with games at Wausau West on Tuesday and at home against the Warriors on Thursday.
