AUBURNDALE – Auburndale fought back time and again, but couldn’t come up with enough runs as it dropped a WIAA Division 4 regional quarterfinal to Edgar 16-14 on Tuesday at Auburndale High School.

Edgar led 15-7 after scoring six runs in the top of the sixth before Auburndale mounted one last comeback. The Apaches scored five in the bottom of the inning, and after Edgar added a run in the top of the seventh, Auburndale scored twice in the bottom but couldn’t get any closer.

Auburndale had just six hits, but took advantage of 10 walks to stay in the game.

Mackenzie Raab had a double, walked four times, and scored five runs out of the leadoff spot for the Apaches, who finish their season with a 7-11 record.

Edgar (4-13) moves on to a D-4 regional semifinal at Marathon on Wednesday.
