SCHOFIELD – Marshfield will be sending five athletes in six events to the state meet after they earned top-three finishes at the WIAA Division 1 Track & Field Sectional on Thursday at Stiehm Stadium at D.C. Everest High School.

Senior Meg Bryan will make a return trip to the state meet after taking third in the long jump with a leap of 18 feet, ¼ inch. She won the sectional last year and was 20th at state.

Also moving on to state are senior Adam Elhendy-Gunnarsson in the long jump and 200 meters, Adam Maki in the pole vault, Joey Goettl in the triple jump, and sophomore Nadia Ougayour in the girls discus. It will be the first state appearances for all four.

Ougayour was fourth in the discus with a throw of 125 feet, 6 inches, at the sectional, which was good enough for eighth statewide as she earns an extra-qualifier spot at the state meet.

The 2018 WIAA State Track & Field Championships will be June 1-2 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.

Elhendy-Gunnarsson won the boys long jump with a leap of 22 feet, ½ inch, and was third in the 200 in 22.38 seconds.

Maki, a junior, finished second in the pole vault (13 feet), and Goettl, a sophomore, was second in the triple jump (43-11½).

The Marshfield girls had a number of close calls, with three other fourth-place finishes.

Bryan took fourth in the triple jump (35-3½), Gracie Holland was fourth in the pole vault (10-3), and Lindsey Steffen finished fourth in the high jump (4-10).
