COLBY – Stratford senior Parker Hoffman will be the lone Tiger to participate at the state meet after he placed third in the triple jump at the WIAA Division 2 Track & Field Sectional on Thursday at Colby High School.
Hoffman finished third in the triple jump with a jump of 42 feet, 5¾ inches, to qualify for the 2018 WIAA State Track & Field Championships, which will be held June 1-2 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
Others competing for the Stratford boys did not earn a top-four finish, needed to qualify for state.
Damon Weix did not qualify for the finals in the 110-meter hurdles and took 12th in the 300 hurdles in 44.61 seconds; Hunter Hannan was 14th in the discus (115-9) and did not qualify for the finals in the 100 meters; and the 800 relay team of A.J. Schoenfuss, Hannan, Chase Flink and Luke Gaulke took 13th in 1:38.19.
For the Stratford girls, the 1,600 relay team of Macie Schillinger, Alexis Lappe, Abbygail Oertel and Callie Lehman was seventh in 4:15.64, Schillinger was sixth in the 400 meters (1:03.03), and Emily Hughes was 16th in the shot put (28-1¼).
