MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield baseball team lost its regular-season and Wisconsin Valley Conference finale, falling to Wausau West 7-3 on Thursday at Jack Hackman Field.
Marshfield had seven hits, two by Brant Bohman, and Bohman, Isaiah Baierl and Austin Palacek had RBIs for the Tigers (4-15, 3-9 WVC).
Mitch Zahrones earned the win for West (12-5, 9-3 WVC), striking out four in six innings.
“We had a great effort against Wausau West,” Marshfield coach Jon Bauer said. “Mason (Coffren) and Riley (Boushack) gave up three earned runs pitching. Brant had a two-hit night and made some great running catches in center field. We hit the ball hard, but too many times right at somebody. They are a team where we have to do everything well to defeat.”
Marshfield will play a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal at Chippewa Falls on Tuesday.
