MARATHON – The strength of the Auburndale girls track team was its relay teams, and that did not change at the WIAA Division 3 Track & Field Sectional on Thursday at Marathon High School.
All four of Auburndale’s girls relay teams qualified for state, with two winning sectional titles.
The four Apaches’ relays are among 22 local entries from Auburndale, Spencer and Marshfield Columbus Catholic that will compete in the 2018 WIAA State Track & Field Championships at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on June 1-2 after earning top-four finishes at the sectional.
Auburndale’s 3,200 girls relay team of Kali Karl, Macie Schmeiser, Erricka Zenner and Taylor Stanton won the race in 10:05.27, and the 1,600 relay team of Karl, Isabelle Hilber, Isabella Jewelll and Paityn Hamus was also victorious in 4:09.16.
