MARATHON – No. 1 seed Marathon won its second-straight extra-inning playoff game, surviving to beat Stratford 3-2 in eight innings in a WIAA Division 3 baseball regional final on Wednesday night at Marathon High School.
Marathon (20-1) moves on to a sectional semifinal at Neenah St. Mary Catholic on Tuesday against the winner of Thursday’s regional final between Amherst and Stevens Point Pacelli. That game was rained out on Wednesday.
Marathon beat Neillsville 3-2 in eight innings in a regional semifinal on Tuesday.
Stratford ends its season with a 13-6 record, with three of the losses coming against Marathon.
