PLOVER – The Marshfield Post 54 American Legion baseball team dropped its season opener, losing 3-2 to Plover on Friday night at Memorial Field.
Derek Baumgartner had an RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh inning to plate the winning run for the Black Sox.
Marshfield took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning. Dakota Landpheir had an RBI double to score Devin Toburen and later scored on an error.
That would be all the Blue Devils would get, as only one baserunner reached in the final three innings.
