Stratford and Auburndale each had two players named to the first team, and combined for three second-team selections to the 2018 All-Marawood Conference South Division Baseball Team, as voted on by the six conference coaches at the conclusion at the season.
Stratford junior Eli Drexler, and Auburndale’s Colton Wright and Cam Ertl were unanimous first-team selections, and Stratford senior Mark Handrick was also named to the first team.
Wright led Auburndale with a .417 batting average (25 of 60), with seven doubles, 18 runs scored, and 22 RBIs, which were all team-highs. He also went 2-4 with a save in seven games pitched, striking out 24 in 35 innings with a 2.40 earned-run average.
Ertl was 1-3 as a pitcher and hit .358 (19 of 53) with 12 runs scored and 11 RBIs.
Auburndale had two second-team picks – senior Cason Schmutzer and sophomore Cooper Weinfurter – and Stratford junior Lance Heidmann was also chosen to the second team.
Weinfurter batted .339 (20 of 59) with four doubles and 15 runs scored and 15 RBIs, and was 3-0 with a save pitching. Schmutzer hit .400 (22 of 55) with 17 runs scored for the Apaches, who finished 9-8 overall and 5-5 in the Marawood South.
Stratford sophomores Matt Handrick and Dawson Moen, and Auburndale senior Ryan Isaacson and sophomore Fletcher Raab were honorable mention selections.
Stratford finished 13-6 overall and 7-3 and in second place in the Marawood South.
Wisconsin Rapids Assumption senior Ethan Peters was named Marawood South Player of the Year.
