ADAMS – The Marshfield Post 54 Senior American Legion baseball team swept a doubleheader at Adams-Friendship on Sunday to run its winning streak to four.
Marshfield won 13-4 and 13-9, blowing both games open with huge seventh innings.
In Game 1, Marshfield led 5-3 before scoring eight times in the top of the seventh.
Preston Wagner threw a complete game for Marshfield, striking out five and allowing four runs and eight hits.
Isaiah Baierl hit a home run, and Logan Matson, Eli Drexler and Jake Brueggen each had two RBIs for the Blue Devils (4-4).
Adams-Friendship rallied to take a 9-8 lead in the second game with a five-run fifth inning.
Marshfield had a comeback of its own in the making, tying the game with a run in the top of the sixth and pulling out the win with a four-run seventh.
Masno Coffren earned the win in relief and Matson picked up the save by getting the final out.
Drexler and Ben Gust each hit homers and drove in two runs, and Devin Toburen had three RBIs for the Blue Devils.
Marshfield’s home opener against Merrill on Monday was postponed. The Blue Devils will return to action Wednesday at D.C. Everest.
