Marshfield’s Donahue named Co-Player of the Year on 2018 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Softball Team

Marshfield senior Megan Donahue was named Co-Player of the Year and three other Tigers also earned first-team honors on the 2018 All-Wisconsin Valley Conference Softball Team, as voted on by the seven conference coaches following the season.

Donahue hit .592 (29 of 49) in league play, with a conference-best seven homers, nine doubles and 23 RBIs. She tied for first with 21 runs scored and her batting average was second behind Ally Miklesh of Stevens Point, who was Co-Player of the Year with Donahue. Miklesh batted .628 (27 of 43).

Donahue also pitched in all 12 conference games, going 8-2 for the Tigers with a 3.11 earned-run average. She struck out 98 and walked 34 in 65 1/3 innings.

Joining Donahue on the first team for the Tigers were senior second baseman Morgan Nordbeck, junior centerfielder Jenna Jakobi, and senior catcher Emily Draeger. Draeger and Jakobi were unanimous selections, along with Donahue.

Jakobi was fourth in the WVC in batting, hitting .533 (24 of 45), with six doubles, one home run, 12 RBIs and 15 runs scored.

Draeger was fifth in hitting with a .524 average (22 of 42), and added nine RBIs and 14 runs scored.

Nordbeck hit .395 (17 of 43) with nine runs scored and five RBIs in conference play.

Junior outfielder Rhiannon Corozolla and senior infielder Kate Konrardy were second-team selections, while sophomore shortstop Jordan Pretsch was an honorable mention choice for the Tigers.

Konrardy hit .289 (11 of 38) with nine RBIs, Corozolla batted .415 (17 of 41) with 10 RBIs, and Pretsch hit .361 (13 of 36) with one homer, eight RBIs and 10 runs scored. Konrardy also went 2-0 in three games pitched, striking out 15 in 14 1/3 innings with a 1.47 ERA.

Marshfield finished 10-2 and in second place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference, and ended up 22-5 overall after losing in the WIAA Division 1 sectional semifinals to Chippewa Falls.
