Marshfield Junior Legion baseball takes one of two at Plover

PLOVER – The Marshfield Junior American Legion baseball team split another Wisconsin Valley Legion League doubleheader on Thursday at Memorial Park against Plover, winning 12-2 and losing 12-4.

Mason Pavloski won the opener for the Blue Devils (14-9), striking out six and allowing just two runs in six innings of work.

Nick Urban went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, Logan Griesbach added a pair of hits and three RBIs, and Alejandro Anaya had two hits and two RBIs in the win for Marshfield. Devyn Palmer and Ty Pankratz also chipped in with a pair of hits.

In Game 2, Plover scored nine runs in the first two innings, including a seven-spot in the second, to pull away early.

Griesbach went 3-for-3, and Anaya and Logan Schreiner each drove in runs for Marshfield.

Marshfield will now enjoy a week off before hosting its annual home tournament on July 6-7 at Jack Hackman Field. The Blue Devils will then finish off their regular-season schedule with a home doubleheader against Antigo on July 10 before heading into regional play in Wausau starting July 13.
