MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Junior Legion baseball team finished 1-2 at its home tournament on Friday and Saturday at Jack Hackman Field.
Marshfield lost to La Crosse 6-4 in the opener on Friday, then split a pair of Saturday, beating La Crosse 8-5 and losing to Fond du Lac 8-5.
Against La Crosse on Friday, Marshfield led 4-1 after 4½ innings, but couldn’t hold on as La Crosse rallied with five runs over its final three at-bats.
Riley Bauman had a triple and two RBIs, and Ty Pankratz had a single and a double for Marshfield.
In the win over La Crosse on Saturday, Logan Schreiner pitched a complete game for the Blue Devils, striking out 11.
Devyn Palmer, Logan Homolka and Ky Swanson each had two hits for Marshfield. Homolka and Swanson had two RBIs apiece, with Swanson stroking two triples.
Homolka had a pair of hits and two RBIs in the loss to Fond du Lac.
Marshfield (14-12) wraps up its regular-season schedule with a doubleheader at home against Antigo on Tuesday beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Blue Devils open play in the Junior Legion regional at Wausau on Friday.
