MARSHFIELD – Ryan Krueger had two doubles and a triple, and drove in six runs to lift the Marshfield Post 54 Senior Legion baseball team to an 11-1 win over Stevens Point on Thursday at Jack Hackman Field.
Krueger had a two-run double in the third inning, a two-run triple in the fourth, and he ended the game via the 10-run rule with a two-run double in the fifth.
Eli Drexler had two hits and scored three times, and Devin Toburen drove in a pair of runs as well for Marshfield (18-9, 9-3 Wisconsin Valley Legion League).
Jake Brueggen earned the win for the Blue Devils, striking out eight and allowing five hits in five innings.
Marshfield plays a league game at Antigo on Friday night before playing a pair of doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday at Holmen and Onalaska. The Blue Devils finish their regular-season schedule Monday at home against Plover. Regionals begin July 20 with Marshfield taking on Wausau at 4 p.m. at Witter field in Wisconsin Rapids.
