WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield Post 54 Senior American Legion baseball team will live to see another day after beating D.C. Everest 8-2 during Class AAA regional play at Witter Field on Sunday afternoon.
The victory keeps Marshfield’s season alive as the Blue Devils (21-14) will play at 1 p.m. Monday in another elimination game.
Marshfield trailed 2-1 before scoring three times in the third to take the lead for good. The Blue Devils added four runs in the sixth to put away the victory.
Connor Jasurda allowed the two runs and two hits in the first, then settled in and struck out 10 in 6 2/3 innings. He didn’t allow another hit and walked three. Preston Wagner got the final out to finish off the victory.
Eli Drexler, Ryan Krueger, Ben Gust and Tragen Bogdonovich each went 2-for-4 for the Blue Devils, who had 12 hits in all.
Drexler hit a lead-off home run in the first inning, and Krueger, Gust and Bogdonovich had RBI singles in the third to put Marshfield ahead.
Drexler had an RBI double, Logan Matson drove in a run with a single, and Krueger added an RBI double in the sixth to give Marshfield an 8-2 advantage.
