WAUSAU – The Auburndale volleyball team began its 2018 season by going 2-1 at the Wausau West Quadrangular on Tuesday.
The Apaches beat Lakeland and Marathon with 2-0 sweeps, and lost 2-0 to Wausau West.
Nine of the 11 Apaches that played had at least one kill, with Mackenzie Raab leading the way with eight. Teryn Lau added seven kills, and Katie Helminiak and Marissa Ponshock each had six.
Maggie Willfahrt led the Auburndale defensively with 24 digs, and Raab added four service aces, 17 assists and 13 digs. Georgi Schmutzer had a team-high 21 assists for the Apaches.
Auburndale will be back in action Thursday with a nonconference match at Neillsville.
