WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield girls golf team missed out on a fourth-place finish by just one stroke, shooting a team score of 228 at the fifth leg of the 2018 Wisconsin Valley Conference Girls Golf Tournament on Friday at Bull’s Eye Golf Course.
The Tigers finished just one shot behind Wisconsin Rapids. Stevens Point won the team title for the fifth time in five meets with a 187, placing all five of its golfers in the top six.
Jasmine Yang of Wausau West/East held on to her overall lead in the individual standings, winning medalist honors with a 40, two shots ahead of Point’s Kaylee Hintz.
Anna Weis shot a 52 to tie for sixth to lead Marshfield. It was her best finish of the season and she climbed ahead of teammate Morgan Meyer for ninth in the individual standings. Meyer shot a 59 to tie for 18th.
Leia Linzmeier had a 56 to finish in 15th, Paige Bulgrin had a 61, and Bryssa Lens shot a 62 to round out Marshfield’s scoring.
The sixth leg of the tournament is Tuesday at Marshfield Country Club, before wrapping up at Glacier Wood Golf Club in Iola on Wednesday.
