Wausau East edges Marshfield girls tennis in WVC finale

WAUSAU – The Marshfield girls tennis team lost its Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet finale on Tuesday at Wausau East 4-3.

The Tigers finish the regular season with a 2-4 record and 34 points in the WVC standings. The conference tournament is set for Sept. 27 at East.

Ana Paape earned the only singles victory for Marshfield, beating Lillie Bauman at No. 4, 6-4, 6-1.

The Tigers also picked up a pair of wins in doubles competition. Emily Weis and Lauren Weigel won at No. 2, 6-0, 6-4, and Caitlyn Christensen and Krupa Patel were victorious at No. 3, winning 6-2, 7-5.
