Marshfield football player Ryan Krueger has been voted as the WDLB-WOSQ Radio & MarshfieldAreaSports.com October High School Athlete of the Month.
The High School Athlete of the Month Award is sponsored by Cost Cutters Family Hair Care and Burt Trophy & Awards.
Varsity athletes from the following high schools are eligible to be nominated for the award: Abbotsford, Athens, Auburndale, Colby, Columbus Catholic, Edgar, Granton, Greenwood, Loyal, Marathon, Marshfield, Neillsville, Owen-Withee, Pittsville, Spencer, Stratford and Thorp.
Krueger picked up 44 percent of the 1,592 votes cast.
Other nominees for the October award were: Edgar cross country runner Marissa Ellenbecker, Stratford volleyball player Jadyn Dahlke, Loyal football player Matt Szymanski, and Pittsville football player Beau Merritt.
Krueger, Marshfield’s senior quarterback, has been on a roll in the later part of the season. He tied a school record with five touchdown passes against D.C. Everest on Oct. 5, and had 155 yards passing and two touchdowns in the Tigers’ regular-season finale against Wausau West on Oct. 12. In two WIAA Division 2 playoff wins in the month, against Ashwaubenon on Oct. 19 and Menasha on Oct. 26, Krueger combined for 325 yards and five TD passes as Marshfield improved to 11-0.
The winner of the WDLB-WOSQ Radio & MarshfieldAreaSports.com High School Athlete of the Year will be announced Monday, July 10.

Krueger, who won the Athlete of the Month award in January 2018 as a member of the Marshfield boys hockey team, joins Spencer/Columbus Catholic football player Jarred Mandel (September) as Athlete of the Month award winners for the 2018-19 school year.
