Stevens Point shuts out Marshfield boys hockey

STEVENS POINT – The Marshfield boys hockey team had its three-game winning streak snapped, falling 6-0 to Stevens Point in its Wisconsin Valley Conference opener on Thursday at K.B. Willett Ice Arena.

Dayne Hoyord scored two short-handed goals, and four other Stevens Point players scored in the victory.

Stevens Point is now 2-0 overall, while Marshfield falls to 3-2. The game was the WVC opener for both teams.

The Panthers outshot Marshfield 51-15, with Tigers’ goalie A.J. Trierweiler making 45 saves.

Marshfield’s next game is Tuesday at Wisconsin Rapids.
