Marshfield boys basketball falls in home opener to La Crosse Central

MARSHFIELD – Jonny Davis scored 20 of his game-high 31 points in the first half to lead La Crosse Central to an 82-68 victory over Marshfield in a nonconference boys basketball game on Friday night at Marshfield High School.

Central led 42-28 at halftime and went up by as many as 31 in the second half before the Tigers closed strong.

Marshfield (1-1) made 14 3-pointers in the loss with four players making three or more.

All five Marshfield starters finished in double figures, with Preston Wagner leading the way with 16 points. Isaac Meverden and Tommy Olson each added 14, Brant Bohman had 13, and Anthony Posteluk scored 11.

Noah Parcher added 13 points and Jordan Davis chipped in 12 for Central, which was playing its season opener.

Marshfield plays at Rhinelander on Tuesday.
