STRATFORD – The two-time defending WIAA Division 3 state champion Stratford wrestling team opened up its 2018-19 season with a perfect 5-0 record at its home Schoenherr Duals on Saturday at Stratford High School.
The Tigers lost only three matches as they rolled to five victories. Stratford beat Barron 75-4, Phillips 72-6, Wautoma/Wild Rose 81-0, Southern Door 76-4, and the D.C. Everest Varsity Reserve 84-0.
Twelve of the Tigers’ 14 wrestlers competing went undefeated.
Logan Gaulke at 106 pounds, Gavin Drexler at 113, Manny Drexler at 120, Dillon Kirsch at 126, Max Schwabe at 132, Mav Licciardi at 145, Devin Dennee at 160, Hunter Ford at 170, Trevor Dennee at 182, Trevor Steiner at 195, Cole Marten at 220, and Dylan Schoenherr at 285 all went 5-0 for Stratford to win their weight classes.
Gavin Kirsch was 4-1 and placed second at 138, and Logan Rueth finished 3-2 and took third at 152 pounds for the Tigers.
Stratford hosts Chequmaegon in its Marawood Conference opener on Thursday.
