MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield High School gymnastics team held its annual intrasquad scrimmage on Monday night.
The Tigers open their 2018-19 season at the La Crosse Central Quad on Friday, then head to the Rhinelander Invitational on Saturday. Marshfield’s first home meet will be Dec. 13 against Ashland.
Junior Gracie Holland, a first-year athlete on the Marshfield team, was the top scorer in all four events – the vault (9.4), uneven bars (8.4), balance beam (9.3), and floor exercise (9.4).
Senior Emma Haugen was second in all four events – 8.0 in the bars, 9.1 in the vault, 8.3 in the beam, and 9.1 in the floor, and senior Brooke McGrath was third in the vault (8.7) and floor (7.9).
Freshmen Vivian Nikolai and Hanna Merkel finished tied for third in the bars (7.5) and beam (7.3).
Other team members this year for the Tigers are seniors Shantel Nienast and Ally Bakke, sophomores Amy Mews, Makenna Yeske, Rainna Simone, and Kimberly Backaus, and freshmen Sydney Ott, Annie Goldberg, Courtney Deering, Sophie Nikolay, Izzy Paape, Jessa Nelson, and Raegan Larson.
