Spencer/Columbus wrestling kicks off season with two dual wins

SPENCER – The Spencer/Columbus Catholic wrestling team opened its 2018-19 season with a pair of Cloverbelt Conference victories on Thursday night at Spencer High School.

The Rockets beat Thorp 54-12 and Altoona/Eau Claire Regis 52-27 in a double dual.

Leo Rodriguez (126 pounds) and Andres Rodrigues (145) won by pin in both matches for the Rocfkets.

Jacob Dick (132) earned a pin against Thorp, and Trey Ackman (113), Carson Hildebrandt (160), and Logan Zschernitz (285) also had pins against Altoona/Regis for Spencer/Columbus.

Tanner Kleinschmidt won by major decision at 170 pounds for SC against Altoona/Regis.

All other Spencer/Columbus wins were by forfeit, totaling six against Thorp and three against A/R.

Spencer/Columbus is off until next Thursday, Dec. 13, when it wrestles at Abbotsford/Colby.
