Wisconsin Rapids holds off Marshfield girls basketball

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield girls basketball team saw a second-half comeback fall short, losing to Wisconsin Rapids 58-53 on Tuesday night at Lincoln High School.

Wisconsin Rapids (2-5, 1-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference) led 28-17 at halftime before the Tigers closed in and got to within three late before falling short.

The Tigers (2-4, 0-2 WVC) couldn’t overcome committing 25 turnovers and shooting just 34 percent (18 of 53) from the field and 1-for-15 from 3-point range.

Jenna Jakobi had 15 points, and Kaydee Johnson and Paige Preston each added 10 for Marshfield.

Vanessa Vechinski scored 15 points to lead the Raiders.

Marshfield hosts Merrill on Friday.
