WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The Marshfield boys basketball team cruised out to a big lead early and slammed Wisconsin Rapids 75-51 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference opener for both teams on Tuesday night at Lincoln High School.
The Tigers (3-2 overall) shot lights out early and raced out to a 48-19 lead by halftime before Wisconsin Rapids (1-4 overall) slightly closed the deficit in the second half.
All 11 Marshfield players that played made at least one basket in the victory.
Senior guard Brant Bohman led the way with 24 points for the Tigers, making 6 of 14 shots from 3-point range.
Isaac Meverden added 11 points and eight rebounds for Marshfield, which made 11 of 27 3-pointers and shot 47 percent overall from the field.
Marshfield will continue its WVC season Friday at Merrill.
